Motion Sensors

Residential motion sensors are typically built using PIR (Passive Infrared) technology. Basically, the sensor is calibrated to detect differences in temperature, for example between a person and a tree. When a hot object moves between a cold object the sensor, this creates what is called “apparent motion,” which will set off the light(s) that motion detectors are equipped with.
